Each LOGS will begin with a short talk by professional gardeners Mark Yabsley or Antonia Young of Pod Garden Design on a topic related to that session, such as where the plants being planted originate, or how to identify weeds. Or sometimes the talk might focus on the history or habits of one particular plant or species growing on the Green. During the tea break, there will be a Gardeners’ Question Time spot, where LOGGERS can bring along a query from their own gardens for a spot of expert advice.
Mark and Antonia are hugely enthusiastic about the new-look LOGS. “People come along to LOGS and give up their time for free, so we’d like to give them something in return, a skill or some knowledge that they can take away with them,” says Mark. “Some people are knowledgeable about gardening already, but other aren’t: they might be first-time gardeners or timid gardeners. Antonia and I hope to give all-comers some helpful tips and empower them to try something in their own gardens.”
